Dear Recruiter,
I am a full-time professor looking for a career change to join industry in a Chief Architect role. I have extensive hands-on IT experience as a professional since 1985, consultant since 1995, and professor since 1997.
Hiring a professor to provide leadership to an Enterprise Architecture is something IT managers are not used to. You would generally favor a former consultant from a top-5 consulting firm.
But there are many unique advantages I can bring that a creative CIO or CTO should find valuable:
1. KNOWLEDGE BASE - I know how to implement a wider variety of technologies than the usual candidate, especially the latest ones such as Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), Business Process Management (BPM), and the Model Driven Architecture (MDA).
2. HANDS-ON EXPERIENCE - I learn fast and keep an independent mindset as I work with a variety of development plateforms, including J2EE, .NET and LAMP, as I have run my own labs for 4 years using products from IBM, Microsoft, Oracle/PeopleSoft, Compuware, BEA, and numerous startups and open source projects.
3. BEST PRACTICES - I have done research in a variety of industries, interviewed leaders and written case studies on many projects, and have acquired valuable knowledge in several application domains and their best practices.
4. THOUGHT LEADERSHIP - I regularly publish articles, speak at conferences, organize events, and provide webcast and interviews on key topics for major industry or academic journals and associations, such as Integration Consortium, ACM, and IEEE.
5. COMMUNICATOR - I am a seasonned educator, having trained more than 1,700 professionals (primarily Executive MBA and IT Managers), and I know pretty much all the tricks of the trade to bring new ideas in an organization, formulate workable solutions, and build consensus to get management, employees and partners on board.
6. INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE - I am a citizen of the world with proven abilities to manage international teams, having worked in 10 countries, fluent in English, French and Spanish, and continuing to learn Mandarin.
Hoping your organization can find value in my profile for a Chief Architect position, please do not hesitate to contact me with any consulting or employment opportunities.
Thanks and looking forward to your reply.
